PRN / Nights
The Nurse Apprentice assists with the care of individual patients as delegated by the journeyman with their supervision.
Tasks that may be delegated include, but are not limited to performing hand hygiene, applying PPE, assist with ambulation and transfer of patients.
Patient hygiene tasks, ADLS, skin assessments and turning, SCDs, therapeutic communication.
Document assessments/vitals/blood sugars/ medications , assist with admits and discharges, perform EKGs, enemas, and ostomy care.
Collect non invasive/non arterial specimens, wet to dry dressings, hot/cold therapies, care for cast and splints, suction and remove NG tubes.
Administer enteral and NG tube feedings, administer oxygen and airway management, apply restraints under the supervision of Journeyman, post mortem care/end of life.
May empty drains, insert IV and provide IV therapy/IV push medications per policy.
Central line dressing changes/sterile dressing changes per policy, and routine care of chest tubes.
Education REQUIRED: High school graduate or GED, currently enrolled in approved school of nursing and has successfully completed coursework in pharmacology, medication administration, and fundamentals.
Accepted into the Apprenticeship program.
Experience REQUIRED: Currently enrolled in approved school of nursing and has successfully completed coursework in pharmacology, medication administration, and fundamentals.
Licenses/Certificates REQUIRED: Current Alabama Board of Nursing Student Nurse Apprentice permit, required
