Performs review of medical records.
Abstracts and aggregates data using quality tools and statistical methods as appropriate.
Enter data into authorized databases in a timely manner.
Works closely with director and clinical coordinators in the development, execution, ongoing, and annual evaluation of quality / performance improvement activities, Departmental Policies / Procedures, and Standards.
Prepares reports and makes presentations to various committee / audiences as requested or assisgned.
Assists in educating associates and Medical Staff members on quality / performance improvement issues.
Functions to provide coordination to the Stroke Team; monitors compliance to regulatory standards related to stroke care (Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center Standards, GWTG and coordinates the activity of the Stroke Team including education (physicians and staff), regulatory compliance, PI activities, development of action plans / timelines, etc.
Functions as the stroke nurse reviewer (concurrent review process and final abstraction) entering data into the approved vendor for stroke and the Outcomes product for Get With the Guidelines - Stroke (American Heart).
Assists in preparing agendas and taking minutes for various meetings.
Completes other QMS reviews/audits as required.
Assists with regulatory readiness preparations and infection control.
Education REQUIRED: RN, BSN preferred.
Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of 5 years acute care or quality review experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Computer skills including word processing, data entry, data display (graphs, statistical methods) etc.
Excellent organizational skills, ability to develop action plan/timelines/meeting deadlines, ability to multi-task.
Licenses/Certificates REQUIRED: RN licensed to practice in Alabama.
