Operations/Site Manager - St.
Clair County
*Primary Purpose*
The position directs residential and commercial solid waste collection operations in St.
Clair County (AL) and other areas to provide high-quality service in accordance with safety regulations and internal quality standards including the coordination of fleet maintenance.
*Scope*
The Operations/Site Manager reports directly to the Regional Manager of North Alabama Operations providing support and guidance to line employees, ensuring the safe delivery of quality service to customers.
The role also interacts directly with the Director – Safety, Recruitment, and Training (SRT) to ensure adequate staffing and the implementation of safety programs at the remote field locations.
The Manager coordinates with other members of the management team to assist with contract start-ups to include routing, cart AD&D, new hire support, and execution of maintenance processes.
The role provides daily reporting to the Regional Manager which includes fleet readiness, inventory, deployment status and communicates the need for any major expenses.
Administrative duties include confirmation of pay-roll processing , accounts payable processing, and accident and injury reporting assistance.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Directs and supports line staff (Drivers/Helpers/Technicians) for their assigned service area.
* Ensures balanced work week routing objectives
* Implements the company’s safety, service and employee retention strategies.
* Continuously assists sourcing of personnel in coordination with the Director – SRT
* Serves as a contact for and completes service assessments with local municipal and county government leaders.
* Responsible for the execution of contract start-up routing, fleet care, based, facility upkeep, route planning, and staffing.
*Safety, Compliance, & Training*
* Direct responsibility for actions required to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and Department of Labor regulations in cooperation with administrative support resources in Abbeville, AL.
* DOT driver files.
* Engagement with the Director – SRT and the Director of
Operations to ensure compliance with the law and implementation of the company’s safety training programs.
* Responds to field audits and implements any required corrective actions to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company standards.
* Implements safety programs and practices to prevent accidents and injuries
* Conducts field accident and injury investigation processes with the Director – SRT and Abbeville administrative personnel.
*Fleet Strategy*
* Provides Fleet readiness reports and supports the Regional Manager by ensuring efficient repairs and return of equipment back into service.
* Is responsible to ensure that preventive maintenance is being implemented timely.
* Supports the Director of Fleet Maintenance with the coordination of 3rd party repairs and any major repairs.
* Executes scheduling requirements with third party maintenance providers.
* Responsible for delivering/maintaining maintenance records.
*Skills & Knowledge*
* Working knowledge of federal and state safety laws, particularly FMCSR & OSHA standards.
* Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely.
* Ability to interact cooperatively and collaboratively with others as a team.
*Education & Experience*
* A minimum high school / secondary education or equivalent degree
* CDL Class A or B is required
* 5+ years in solid waste industry with operations and/or safety management experience is preferred.
