The Operations Supervisor position is based out of Kinder Morgan’s Southern Natural Gas (SNG) DeArmanville Compressor Station located at 539 Chevron Road, Anniston, AL 36207.
This is a Monday through Friday position with on-call responsibilities nights and weekends.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide supervisory leadership to crews in assigned geographic area.
Responsible for the safety and environmental programs, compliance with company procedures and government regulations, development and management of the budgets, reliability of equipment employee training and development and overview of administrative functions relevant to the work.
Direct supervision of one Equipment and Controls Technician and six Operations Specialists.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide supervisory leadership to crews in assigned geographic area.
Responsible for safety and environmental programs, compliance with company procedures and government regulations, development and management of budgets, employee training and development and overview of administrative functions relevant to the work Responsible for the operation and maintenance of process equipment, instrumentation, pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, pipelines, compressors and auxiliary equipment, engines, turbines, motors, cooling equipment, valves, seals and other related equipment Ensure the cost effective and efficient performance of pumps, exchangers, engines and associated equipment at compressor stations and pipelines Install, repair, service and maintain instrumentation, valves, pipe, pipeline appurtenances and associated equipment Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment, including pipeline right-of-way and gathering or storage areas, including, but not limited to excavating, repairing, coating and backfilling pipelines, concrete work, painting, building erection, weed control, etc.
Maintain, adjust, make minor repairs and operate equipment (i.
e.
, industrial wheeled tractors, water pumps, air compressors, expanders, coolers, test equipment, vehicles, etc.
) Represent the Company during contacts with landowner / tenants, public officials / emergency officials and at local meetings (One Call, Pipeline Groups, Soil Conservation, USFS, etc.
) Oversee construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties Train and oversee company and third party personnel as required (i.
e.
, personnel in progression, transport drivers, contractors, visitors Perform governmental compliance activities (OSHA, DOT, State Agencies, EPA, USF, etc.
) Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives Participate in the development of O&M Procedures, Site Specific Procedures, project scopes and work plans Complete all applicable documentation and record keeping All other duties as assigned Position Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent EXPERIENCE / SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE: Prior supervisory experience or a minimum of five years of experience in the natural gas industry Knowledge of Company procedures and government regulations relevant to pipeline operations CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record to be insurable by the Company insurance carrier Subject to license or certification requirements or training as stipulated by local, state or federal agencies or the Company COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to plan, organize, document, prioritize and complete work efficiently Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage crews at multiple locations and perform multiple tasks on a daily basis Must be able to communicate, verbally and in writing, in English Strong commitment to safety Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and decimals Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, various operating systems and other company software Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, regulatory and Company tariff requirements Demonstrate performance and leadership toward operational excellence.
Must have good attention to detail.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Employee must be physically capable of completing and satisfying all training requirements as stipulated by local, state or federal agencies and/or Company Policy.
Must be able to frequently enter confined spaces, and climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions and 50 pounds from floor to waist Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells, carry up to 50 pounds and to see, hear, walk and talk effectively.
WORKING CONDITIONS: May work in low-lit areas Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions Depending upon the location and workload, travel may be required Must be available for shift work when applicable Field activities may include walking to and among work and/or constructions sites, climbing in and out of trenches, working around heavy equipment and working in confined spaces Must be available for responding to emergency situations on a 24/7 basis Must live within a 45 minute response/travel time to the primary work location PREFERRED EDUCATION: (Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position.
) Preference may be given to candidates with college degrees, especially a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business or similar programs.
